General
Our 1 day CIEHF-accredited DSE Assessor training course provides attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to carry out basic DSE risk assessments, as and when required. It is also suitable for anyone who has an interest in (or responsibility for) staff and their welfare, including line managers, safety, HR, facilities, and healthcare professionals.
This course has been independently assessed and accredited by the prestigious Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors - our certification is available to view here. Acreditation amounts to an additional assurance that the course is of high quality, and delivered by teaching staff with suitable and sufficient qualifications and experience. Attendees who successfully complete the course will receive certificates which also carry the CIEHF logo.
Suitable for office, home and hybrid working, practical assessment techniques and the resolution of common issues are a key part of our interactive and hands-on training. This builds on theory elements including ergonomics, DSE related ill-health, the importance of movement and postural changes, the DSE Regulations, DSE policy, HSE guidance and best practice. Full details on course content can be found here, with feedback on the training available on our Testimonials page.
Public course fees are £259 per person, which includes all materials, refreshments and lunch (face-to-face courses only), and unlimited future use of our DSE risk assessment documentation, if required.
In-person public courses run regularly in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but are also available (subject to demand) in other locations including Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee, Perth, Stirling, Ayr, Dumfries, Carlisle, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and London.
Virtual Live Courses
Since 2020, we have also been offering our public CIEHF-accredited DSE Assessor Training as a virtual live course (over Zoom). This avoids the need to travel, as attendees can join from anywhere with an internet connection.
We have received express permission from our accrediting body - the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors - to provide DSE Assessor Training in this way. The course itself has been carefully tweaked to allow for effective delivery and learning, with new additional resources and content also available offline for attendees to access. With a relaxed atmosphere and multiple breaks through the day, virtual DSE Assessor Training works really well as an alternative to classroom courses.

in-house training
1 day CIEHF-accredited DSE Assessor Training is also available as an in-house course delivered at your premises, an external venue or virtually (over Zoom or Microsoft Teams). This can work out significantly cheaper depending on the number of people you require trained.
refresher training
To keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date, we recommend that DSE assessors carry out refresher training every three years. We offer a choice of refresher training options:
-
re-attending (at a reduced rate of £199) our CIEHF-accredited 1 day DSE Assessor Training
-
1/2 day in-house Refresher Training for DSE Assessors course, either face-to-face or delivered virtually
